extended properties
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:04:01 AM »
Hi, I have a problem with extended properties. I checked  the sync option, I added a new contact in thunderbird (3.0b2) with, for example, the website page, and I sync with gmail. But the extended properties are not included in gmail contact. Any suggestion?

thanks

Hello,

The extended properties are stored on Google's servers but you cannot view them through Gmail.  The only way to view or modify these values is through a tool like gContactSync.

I wrote a web tool that lets you see the extra properties from anywhere, but it is no replacement for gContactSync or Gmail and the first login takes a very long time.
Otherwise I believe I could write a Firefox extension to display the extended properties if there is enough interest.

I'm having problems syncing extended properties as well. I've checked "Sync Extended Properties" in the gContactSync Advanced Preferences but the extended property fields remain grayed out. When I click OK to close the Preferences dialog and then re-open it, the "Sync Extended Properties" option is now unchecked. I've tried this multiple times and the option won't "stick". I'm running TB 2.0.0.22 + Lightning 0.9.

Thanks
Mark

Hello,

Are you using the newest version, 0.2.4?  It sounds like you are seeing a bug that existed in versions prior to 0.2.2.

You can download the newest version here.
