I have an email account for business using Thunderbird / IMAP with many established email addresses (only names and emails). It is just used to email.
Then secondly, after moving from Palm to Android, I got more then 5000 addresses in a separate gmail/google account.
The gmail data is more detailed and the more important/primary one but just used to keep data, no emails are ever send from this account. The first one has the best updated email addresses. Both contain many duplicate names.
Can I unite both addresses data and sync between 2 or more PC's. An answer and a hint with the necessary steps will be greatly appreciated.

I apologize for not being able to help more quickly.  Please remember this is a hobby for me and something I do in my spare time; I am not paid for this.  My dedicated 24/7 customer support team had the month off.  ;)

gContactSync doesn't do any merging, but Google can.  It also only synchronizes one account per address book, so you'll probably want to just use a single Gmail account in the future.  It will sync this account across multiple computers.

Here's what I would do:
  • Merge duplicates from Gmail in each account
  • Install gContactSync, set it up to sync with the account you use to send e-mail.  Use a new address book.
  • Sync
  • Go to gContactSync -> Accounts and add your other account and set it up to sync with a new address book.
  • Synchronize
  • In Thunderbird, copy the contacts from the data-only account into the address book you synchronize with the e-mail account.
  • Synchronize (it will take some time)
  • Open Gmail and resolve/merge duplicates
  • Synchronize

At this point you should be set.  On your other computer just install gContactSync and set it up to sync with your e-mail account.
