Hello,

Someone started working on a German translation on BabelZilla.  See this link (you may need an account to view that page).  If you are still interested in contributing I and many others would appreciate it.

Either you or I can contact the member translating into German.

The German de-DE translation is 11% complete with the last update on Aug 14th.  I'm not sure if that's long enough to wait or not so it's up to you.

I overlooked the translation and it seems to be pretty complete now. There are just a few hard to translate entries left, but the most important things are translated. But I'm curious if it is possible to use the localized names of the groups? I just saw "Work", "Home" and "Other" in the translation. Nevertheless, it would be great if you could use the translation in the next update of gContactSync.
