Birthday Extension
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:02:17 AM »
It doesn't look like Bug 456024 is going to get an sr in time to make it into Thunderbird 3.  Moving that datepicker, date JS module, and contact view pane changes into an extension could help improve the usability of the birthday field and gather useful feedback before implementing it in Thunderbird.

It could also add an anniversary field since that is waiting for the new datepicker.

Finally, it could check if Lightning is installed and try to use its preferences for the first day of the week (Bug 521718).

On my Samsung phone contact application, there are "events".  We are loading birthdays and anniversaries into events.  But they don't show up on my desktop (which is SeaMonkey actually).  It would seem, though, that handling the "events" field would be more flexible than just "birthday".
